Standard Transfer Service:
With 8 Track Tapes and Cassettes we check each tape for any obvious visible problems
before playing it back on our equipment. If the pads need replacing, or if the tape is
twisted or unspooled or the oxide is flaking off--we may not be able to digitize the tape
(sorry, we do not specialize in tape repair--but these nice folks do--KatesTrackShack. Or
if you really like living on the edge you can always try repairing an 8 track yourself! (not
recommended).
With cassettes, we begin by rewinding the tape and playing it back, checking for any
sort of distortion or garbling and we double check the record levels, pushing them as far
as we can without over-modulating (or clipping) the signal.
We use Nakamichi brand tape decks for all cassette tape transfers. Please check out our
Tape Sound Gallery.
With vinyl Lps and 45s, we begin by cleaning each record twice: first with
Discwasher D4 to clean deep inside the grooves removing grit, dust and most particles,
and then we clean the vinyl again with Gruv-Glide to remove static electricity and to
lubricate the vinyl surface.
Your vinyl is then recorded and digitized (we use either a Luxman PD 272 direct drive
turntable with Grado Gold cartridge or a Marantz 6300 direct drive mounted with a
Clearaudio Aurum Classic cartridge) through a audiophile professional grade phono
pre-amp (the Bellari VP 129 tube pre-amp) and state of the art external USB sound card
onto a computer hard drive (Western Digital).
We play each side of your record ONCE, and ONE TIME ONLY and replace it in a new
static proof sleeve immediately upon completion of recording/digitalizing. Your record
will be returned to you cleaner and sounding better than when you shipped it to us--we
guarantee it!
The tracks are then digitalized and divided by hand (with the help of the digitalizing
software) into individual music files.
Next, each music file is restored and filtered using software algorithms to eliminate most
if not all surface hiss, rumble, clicks and pops and other artifacts from the original analog
source. The files are finally labelled/indexed and burned as either WAV, AIFF or MP3 files
onto CD or DVD.
We print Artist and Album title and order number and our logo (vinylhaven.com) directly
onto your CD/DVD using the Primera inscripta Signature CD printer. This printer uses
thermal ink that will not smear and it is applied directly to the CD. We do NOT use sticker
labels which can pell off and shorten the life of your CD/DVD (and possibly the life of a
slot loading CD disc player).
We put your new CD edition of your recording in a jewel box CD case with an elegant
black and white insert that lists Artist, Album Title, and All Tracks in their proper
sequence.
Or if you wish full color scanned LP art (both front and back) or even a scan of the inner
gatefold--SEE OUR PRICE LIST FOR DETAILS/PRICING.
